The Therapy Team is led by Cathy
Warne:
Cathy Warne graduated in
1996 from the University of Southampton School of Occupational
Therapy and Physiotherapy with an honours degree in Occupational
Therapy.
Cathy’s career took
her all over England, gaining experience in all areas of Physical and Learning
Disabilities. Cathy
achieved a Masters Degree from the
University
of
Greenwich.
Meanwhile Cathy became
Head of Department for the Community Learning Disability
Occupational Therapy service at Kingston Primary Care Trust,
enjoying this position for 18 months but - pining for
Devon - moved back to the South West in January 2003.
Since then, Cathy has
worked in Children’s services, often contracted for work in
multiple agencies at the same time – NHS in Plymouth, North &
East Cornwall, South Hams; Social Services in Plymouth, Trengweath (Scope)
School and Priory Group schools.
Cathy’s
voluntary sector interests took her to India, for the summer in 2005, which was
followed by a short spell of locum work for Coventry PCT
children’s OT service.
Professional interests have also seen her travel far wider to places
such as the Himalayas and attend specialist trainings in the
USA.
The
desire to concentrate on areas of particular clinical interest –
sensory integration and motor development in mainstream children and
learning disabled adults – coupled with the powerful draw to
continue to live on the Devon-Cornwall border, led to the
decision to pursue private practice. This has grown in reputation
and now extends to senior level consulting, both for PCT's and private sector
providers throughout Southern England.
