The Panorama Trek:

Follow the yellow dots on the map to the right as far as Khumjung!

This 10 day trip follows the same initial route as the base camp trek, but at a slightly lesser pace and peaking at a lower elevation around 13,000'.

The Panorama trek begins with the same flight into the Lukla airstrip and  two long days trekking up the steep climb to the Sherpa 'capital' of Namche.  High-slung rope bridges cross the Dudh Kosi river valley and the giant peaks of Everest, Pumori, Nuptse, Lhotse, Ama Dablam are a constant backdrop to colourful Buddhist prayer flags and shrines.

The terrain is steep in climbs and descents through lush alpine forest and rocky riverside trails. There will be plenty of stops for short rest and photography and you will be staying in best available eco lodges with en suite toilet and washing facilities. It is, however, still a lot of hard walking.

The highpoint of the Panorama trek is a night at the highest hotel in the world; the Everest View Hotel above Syangboche. This is in the area that Girlguiding SW England set their records with the Guiding hot air balloon.

If conditions are clear, you will awake to an incredible Panorama of Mount Everest, Lhotse, Nuptse, Ama Dablam and a multitude of other Himalayan peaks, before descending back to Kathmandu and home.

You will absorb the environment and culture along the route, sharing with the Sherpa people and meeting other races dependent on the mountain trade routes to maintain their wilderness way of life. The wildlife and natural landscape at this level is verdant and abundant. As with the base camp trek, the cost includes donations to environmental and micro economy projects within the Sargamatha national park.

The expedition is carbon neutral and subject to our normal environmental impact assessments.

The cost will be approximately £1,700 with easy instalment terms if you prefer. Whilst this trek is less duration and altitude than the full base camp trek, it is still demanding and requires a good level of general health, fitness and mental aptitude.
